TRO Against NYPD for Falsely Labeling BLH Client a "Gang Member"
On May 31, 2018, BLH Attorney Keith Szczepanski obtained a Temporary Restraining Order against the NYPD preventing them from interfering with a music performance by his client, Giovanni Rodriguez, who performs as King Karrot. In May 2017, Mr. Rodriguez was shot by a stray bullet. Following the shooting, the NYPD falsely labeled Mr. Rodriguez as a “gang member.” On two occasions in 2017, the NYPD pressured the owners of music venue to cancel scheduled performances by Mr. Rodriguez.
